Paint the Swan REaD (PTSR) is a community based early literacy campaign designed to encourage the whole community to get behind the importance of literacy in the early years.
Paint the Swan REaD is part of a National Collective -Paint the Town REaD
PTSR encourages the whole community to support the development of children’s early literacy skills from birth, so they will be ready for reading and writing at school. We can achieve this through promoting talking, reading, singing, rhyming and playing with children from birth. Through this we help children build a solid foundation of skills that are vital for when they begin school giving them the best start possible, setting them up for the potential of lifelong successes.
Red the Super Reading Roo is the mascot for PTSR and will often be seen at our events meeting the kids, participating in book readings and singalongs and having lots of fun! Paint the Swan REaD have book boxes in the community filled with free books for children. Keep your eyes peeled for them as they love to receive photos of people enjoying the book boxes.
PTSR couldn’t do this without the support of volunteers who visit the boxes to replenish books and make sure all boxes are in good condition. We are always looking for more people to join the volunteer family. People can volunteer as little as a couple of hours a month and the hours are totally flexible. If you would like to join our team, check out our volunteering page for more information.
PTSR is supported locally by the Altone, Bullsbrook, Ellenbrook and Midland Early Years and Family Support Networks.
