Read Play Grow

Read Play Grow is a program designed for parents with children aged between 0-3 years. This program supports parents, as the primary teacher in their child’s life, by exploring the everyday things we can do to support child development.

Research has shown that, for children to reach their full potential, they need:

  • Secure attachments with their caregivers
  • Daily activities to stimulate brain development
  • Adequate nutrition to nurture growth and development
  • Preventative health care, such as hygiene and dental care
  • Supportive connections with the wider community

Read Play Grow (RPG) works alongside parents in their own homes or in groups to:

  • Promote early brain development
  • Highlight the importance of attachment
  • Enhance the pre-literacy skills of their children
  • Help them with life skills and routines
  • Maximise child health outcomes

Read Play Grow partners with parents to provide a safe, positive program experience where they can explore child development and learn without judgement. It is our belief that all parents want the best outcome for their child and the community can support parents to fill this role to the best of their ability. Therefore, Read Play Grow is designed to enhance and strengthen the parent toolbox with support, strategies, information, and opportunities to practice what we have learned.

Read Play Grow can be delivered in both group settings and one-on-one with families in their homes. This is a 6-week program with each session lasting between 1 – 2 hours per week. The session structure is as follows:

  • Week 1: Building strong foundations
  • Week 2: Raising emotionally secure children
  • Week 3: Learning through play
  • Week 4: Fit, fun and healthy
  • Week 5: Reading and number fun
  • Week 6: Safety
