The Swan Alliance Team have been a valuable support to CLAN Midland providing not only much needed funding but also mentoring and practical support at events and functions.
Community Outreach, Baby FAST and FAST are funded by the Department for Social Services - Communities for Children-Swan Alliance. In 2010 Anglicare WA, Ngala and Mission Australia formed the Swan Alliance and was successful in securing the Australian Department of Social Services contract to deliver the Communities for Children program in the Swan Region.
The Swan Alliance is the Facilitating Partner delivering the Communities for Children initiative within the Swan Local Government Area. (Ngala website) Communities for Children is a place-based initiative of the Australian Department of Social Services.
The initiative is implemented in each place by a Facilitating Partner whose core business is to: “Develop and facilitate a ‘whole of community’ approach to support and enhance early childhood development and wellbeing for children from birth to 12 years”.
The Department of Communities has been a long term funder of CLAN Midland.
In the early years they funded a much-needed home visiting parenting service which reached many hundreds of families as well as the Midvale Neighbourhood Centre, which was well utilised as a safe place for people to meet and connect by both families and community groups in the area. Currently they fund the empowering communities’ program (Community Links) which facilitates grass-roots community development to generate social connection to increase both community and individual wellbeing.
